Shop/Cart Delivery

Job Title: Shop/Cart Delivery
Reports To: Route Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt



SUMMARY
Delivery and collection of residential and commercial customer’s roll carts in the Bend Garbage & Recycling service area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Delivers roll carts, containers and lift boxes for solid waste handling
· Inventories and maintains containers regularly
· Assists the mechanics as needed
· Operates all equipment safely
· Maintains all carts and containers, including daily washing and minor repairs
· Maintains a neat and clean appearance, appropriately clothed in uniform
· Meets attendance and tardiness standards
· Attends staff meetings as requested
· Complies with company policies, procedures and safety regulations
· Must get along with co-workers
· Performs other duties as assigned
· Operates truck safely & efficiently in all weather conditions

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one month to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with other employees and before groups of customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move 40 to 60 pounds, up to 200 ft. and push/pull up to 500 pounds, up to 200 ft, moving solid waste containers, garbage cans and roll carts, push, pull, unload, drag and carry. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Journeyman Diesel Mechanic

BEND GARBAGE & RECYCLING



Job Title: Journeyman Mechanic
Reports To: Shop Manager
FLSA Status: Non Exempt

SUMMARY
Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment for Bend Garbage & Recycling.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Handles service calls and field work.
· Ensures all scheduled work for is completed as required.
· Completes scheduled service work.
· Observes devices in operation and listens to sounds to locate causes of trouble.
· Reviews daily driver's reports for needed repairs.
· Tags out and schedules repairs.
· Maintains up-to-date working knowledge and ability to overhaul engines, transmissions, gear differentials and hydraulic systems.
· Maintains basic electrical knowledge.
· Maintains knowledge of software.
· Has applicable welding skills in gas, mig, tig and arc.
· Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
· Repairs or replaces defective parts; lubricates and cleans parts.
· Maintains daily records of labor and parts used.
· Collaborates with Shop Manager & Route Manager when equipment is down.
· Keeps Shop Manager aware of changing needs.
· Completes computer generated repair and purchase orders.
· Maintains clean, organized and safe work areas.
· Complies with company policies and safety regulations.

· Takes initiative to ensure needed equipment is ready for next working day.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
